“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Matthew 5:9)
God is a peacemaker. It is the peacemaking that ultimately marks Jesus’ followers as God’s daughters and sons.
The basic understanding of the word peace comes from the Hebrew “shalom.” Shalom is a positive word. It is never used for the absence of trouble. Peace is an attribute of God. As followers of Jesus, claimed by God, peace is what God does.
